Obituary for Jane Karen Campbell

Jane Karen Campbell, of Monroe Township, New Jersey, departed this life on October 15, 2018 after many years of battling a long illness. Jane was the eldest of five children with siblings, Howard, Marion, Judy, and Connie born to Remer Hudson and Edna Ellen Hudson of Roselle, New Jersey.

Jane grew up in Roselle, New Jersey and graduated from Abraham Clark High School in 1965, and later became a graduate of the Essex College of Business in June 1966 as an Executive Secretary. Jane was a member of the First Baptist Church of Cranford, New Jersey from childhood and throughout her adult life. Jane sang soprano as a member of the church choir.

In August 1966, Jane was joined in holy matrimony to Carl S. White of Newark, New Jersey, and unto this union, a daughter, Cynthia, was born. Jane later re-married in 1974, and moved and raised her family in Plainfield, New Jersey.

Jane began her career at Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Newark and then later worked at the Union County Courthouse in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and finishing her career with the Union County Department of Probation in Plainfield, New Jersey.

Surprisingly, Jane was quite an accomplished bowler. Jane participated in a few bowling leagues in her early 30s, and would often bowl 200 or more points per game, and received many trophies over those years. Jane’s highest score was 230 which she somehow made look effortless.

Jane was known for her vivacious laughter, and you could always distinguish her jubilation above others in the room. This abundance of joy in her spirit was always evident; even during the years of her illness, and until her passing, Jane’s eyes and beaming smile would warm the hearts of everyone who visited her bedside. Jane’s sisters and devoted cousins were constantly visiting her throughout her illness and were sure to keep her spirits bright with fun family stories. The many loving visits are surely what kept Jane motivated to look forward to the next day. Jane was also beloved by many of the staff of the nursing home where she resided; everyone knew “smiling Jane” and they will surely miss her.

Jane leaves to mourn her daughter, Cynthia Wingate (Thomas); brother, Howard Hudson; sisters: Judy Folkes (Ralph) and Constance Hamlin (Bill); and a host of devoted aunts, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
