Obituary for Beverly Ann Lewis

Beverly Lewis was born on September 18, 1939 in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Clifford Livingston and Ann Harriet Carter. She grew up in Vauxhall and attended the Union Public School system graduating from Union High School. Upon graduating from high school, Beverly moved to Newark, New Jersey. Later she was joined several of her sisters, Beverly enjoyed spending time with her siblings and welcomed their company. Beverly enjoyed bowling; she belonged to several leagues and participated in many tournaments. She has the trophies to prove it. Beverly truly loved the Lord. Beverly joined Ernest Leonard Ministries where she served faithfully for several years. Beverly later joined Fresh Oil Fellowship Ministries. She served as a Deacon and Choir member until her illness no longer allowed her to serve.

Beverly was employed by the Hazel Bishop Cosmetic Company where she worked until the company relocated out of state. She then began working for Wakefern Food Corporation for several years. Beverly began working at Blackwell Associates in October 1978 where she continued working until she retired on April 27, 2012.

Beverly enjoyed cooking. You knew when you went to Beverly’s house you would get a good home cooked meal. However, you did not have to visit Beverly to get one of her home cooked meals all you had to do was say you liked a certain dish and Beverly would show up to your front door, at church, or at work with it in hand. One of her favorite dishes that she enjoyed preparing was her famous Strawberry Shortcake.

Beverly will be remembered for her generosity her kindness and willingness to give, which extended beyond her immediate family. Beverly’s love for us exemplified the Spirit of Ruth in her daily walk. We will miss her dearly.

On Friday, August 17, 2018 at 8:30 pm Beverly quietly made her transition from this earthly life into eternity.

Preceding her in death are her parents Clifford and Ann Carter and her sister, Joan.

Beverly leaves to cherish her memory, two sons: Allen Dennis Carter and Michael Steven Lewis of Scranton, PA; one grandson, Tyrell Kellam; six great-grandchildren; adopted son, Darrin Leonard; seven siblings: Robert Carter (Paulette) of Michigan, Judith “Tudy” Mallard of Willingboro, NJ, Pastor Loretta Hill (Apostle Cornelius) of Orange, NJ, Sherlynn Francis (James) of Vauxhall, NJ Kathlyn Maxwell (Austin) of Maryland; godson, Shawn Charles; very dear friend, Mary E. Crawford; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

A very special THANK YOU to her Sister Sherlynn (Jeaniegirl) for all the love and sacrifices she made to make her life comfortable and happy.
