Obituary for Betty R. McDuffie

Betty R. McDuffie was born on December 20, 1933 in Crawfordville, Georgia to Horace Stewart and Nancy Allen-Hill. When she was a little girl, the family moved to Westfield, New Jersey where she attended the Westfield Public School system.

Betty was joined in holy matrimony to Robert W. McDuffie, Sr. on December 26, 1959. They resided and raised three children together in Roselle, New Jersey.

She had a passion for sewing, cooking, baking, catalog shopping and talking on the phone to her family and friends, as well the occasional bus rides to Atlantic City. Betty will fondly be remembered for hosting holiday dinners at her home for her family and was known for her sweet potato pie, potato salad and macaroni and cheese.

Betty was employed by Lord & Taylor Department Stores in Westfield for over 20 years with a career in retail sales and customer service. Previously, she worked at ITT in Clark for many years.

She was a loyal and faithful member of St. Joseph the Carpenter Church in Roselle, New Jersey. Betty volunteered at the St. Joseph Grammar School and Friday night Bingo games.
On Sunday, June 9th, 2019, Betty left us for her heavenly home.

Betty was preceded in death by her father, Horace Stewart; mother, Nancy Allen-Hill; husband, Robert W. McDuffie Sr.; and sister, Sallie M. Cabney.

She leaves to cherish loving memories, her two sons, Robert W. McDuffie, Jr. and Cliff Gregory McDuffie; one daughter, Michelle McDuffie; sister, Etha Allen; as well as a host of cousins, nieces and nephews.
