Obituary for Beatrice Hall

Beatrice (Hurling) Hall was born on March 26, 1934 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, daughter of the late Juanita (Wilson) Hurling and Clifford W. Hurling. She received her education in the Roselle Public School system and graduated from Abraham Clark High School in Roselle, New Jersey.

Beatrice married her next door neighbor and sweetheart, the late Emmet Hall and moved to Linden where she resided for 67 years. From this loving union, they were blessed with three daughters: Denise, Leslie, Andrea and two sons: Michael and Mark.

She was employed at RCA in Avenel, New Jersey and later worked as a Dietician at Union Hospital where she retired.

Beatrice was a proud member of the Native American Lenni-Lenape Tribe where she was given the Tribal name of “Quiet Spirit.” In her spare time, she loved partaking in the Native American Pow-Wows and was given the opportunity to smoke a peace pipe with her Chief. She enjoyed playing bingo and cards, and cooking and spending quality time with her family and friends.

On Saturday, May 4, 2019 surrounded by her loving family, Beatrice Hall was gently taken home by GOD at Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in Rahway, New Jersey at the age of 85.

She was predeceased by her sisters: Marjorie Hurling Able, Sylvia Hurling and Gwendolyn Hurling; brothers: Clifford “Sonny” Hurling, Jr., Alfred Hurling, Raymond Hurling, Clarence Hurling, Dennis Hurling, Norman Hurling and great-great-grandson, Halim Coage-Shumate, Jr.

Beatrice leaves to cherish her memory, three daughters: Denise Patterson (Barry) of Linden, NJ, Leslie Queen (Brian) of Linden, NJ, and Andrea Dezan (Dale) of Claremont, NH; two sons: Michael Hall (Elizabeth) and Mark Hall (Pamela) all from Springfield, VT; one sister, Marilyn Hurling Carolina; 16 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; 5 sisters-in-law: Mary Hurling, Vivian Hurling, Mary Colvin, Joan Colvin and Jemme Chapman; two brothers-in-law: David Colvin and Joseph Colvin; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.

Our mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother knew she was loved beyond measure and she showed her love, kindness and gentle spirit to all - whether you were blood related or not. She was known to everyone as “Nanny,” “Big Nan,” “Mrs. Nan” or “Aunt B” because she took care and treated everyone just like they were her own.
