Obituary for Vernell Boykin

Vernell Boykin was born in Lumpkin, Georgia to the late Rosa Robinson and Sherman H. Robinson, Sr. She graduated from High School in Lumpkin, Georgia and then moved to Brooklyn, New York.

There is where she later met and married Willie D. Boykin. From this union she had three children: Dennis D. Boykin, Cynthia M. Boykin and Rodney Boykin (Debra).

She worked in the New York Public School system from 1966 up until 1992 when she retired. Later she moved and joined her daughter in New Jersey in 2002. She lived here until she departed this life on the evening of August 24th.

She joined Varick Memorial A. M. E. Zion Church in the 60s and she enjoyed cooking and doing projects at the church. She loved to cook and play BINGO at the Senior Citizen Center in New York and she really enjoyed to travel with her daughter and family. She traveled up until her sickness, two years ago.

She was proceeded in death by two brothers and two sisters.

She leaves to a sister, Melba Hardrick and a brother, Sherman H. Robinson, Jr. She also leaves 2 sons, 1 daughter, 1 step-daughter, and a host of grands, great-grands, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, cousins, and other family and friends.
