Obituary for Theadias Arrington

Theadias “Teddy” Arrington was born on December 9, 1924 in Northhampton County, North Carolina, son of the late Bessie Underdue and Jesse Arrington. When he was a child, the family moved to New Jersey and he grew up in the Oranges. In 1952, he moved to Linden.

He retired from J.W. Pierson Oil Company as a Truck Driver after 25 years of service. He was known as the “Oilburner man” for the community who fixed everyone’s furnaces and would never leave a job undone. He made sure everyone got heat no matter if it took him all night. Previously, Teddy was employed as a Truck Driver for Holmes Fuel Oil Company for many years. He also worked as a Custodian for Union County College for many years. He was best known for always having his cigar in his mouth.

On Monday, January 15, 2018, Teddy passed away at St. Mary’s in Orange, New Jersey at the age of 93.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian Arrington; son, Bernard Dodger; daughter, Dolores Elliott; and ten brothers and sisters.

Teddy leaves to cherish his precious memories, his daughter, Carol Raymond of Linden, New Jersey; one son, Dr. Richard Dodger (Wilhelmina) of Roselle, New Jersey; one daughter-in-law, Cynthia Dodger of Scotch Plains, New Jersey; 14 grandchildren; and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, dear relatives, friends and also all those from the neighborhood who called him “Grandpa.”

He will sadly be missed by all who knew and loved him dearly.
