Obituary for Milton Adonis Christian

Milton Adonis Christian was born on October 18, 1931 to John Blakey and Mary Christian. Milton received his primary education from the Hagerstown Public School system in Maryland. His secondary education was completed at the Bordentown MTIS Residential Training and Vocational School in Bordentown, New Jersey where he learned the trade of carpentry.

At the age of 21, Milton enlisted in the military and was stationed at Kindley Air Force Base in Bermuda where he served as an Air Police. It was here where he met and married Blanche Aline Aubrey in July of 1953. Of the marriage there were 3 children born, Debra Ann, Sheila Lorraine and Gale Lynn.

Milton served his country until his honorable discharge in January 1956. During his military career Milton received the National Defense Service Medal and the Good Conduct Medal. Upon his discharge from the military, Milton moved his family to the United States where they resided in Roselle, New Jersey. Blanche and Milton parted ways shortly after their return to the United States.

MIlton worked as a Carpenter Foreman for Cotton’s Construction Company and then for Patterson Sports Floors.

Milton went on to have 2 additional children, Carla Denise Meadows and Dwayne Christopher Neal both of New Jersey. In September of 1984, Milton met and married Geraldine Manson and they parted ways in August of 1988.

Milton was a member and Past Master of the Acacia Lodge No. 23 of Roselle and was a former a member and Trustee of the Liberty Baptist Church of Elizabeth, New Jersey and of the New Hope Baptist Church of Newark, New Jersey.

Milton had a passion for music and played the saxophone. He also sang in a band while in Bermuda in his younger years, but when he became a soldier of the Lord he put that talent to the men’s choir for the churches he attended. Milton could be found as the DJ for many local cookouts and events. He also had a love for model airplanes. He taught a class of youth at School #1 in Elizabeth, New Jersey how to build model airplanes with engines that could actually fly. He made sure that he showed off his own planes at the local air shows. Milton was a true techy. He loved electronics and had a knack for taking things apart and putting them back together. He was also a loyal fan of the Dallas Cowboys football team.

Milton Adonis Christian departed this life on Wednesday, June 27, 2018 at the Lyons Campus of the Veterans Administration New Jersey Health Care System at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his father, John Blakey, his mother, Mary Christian Thompson, sister, Bertha L. Dye, sister-in-law, Ann Aubrey Simmons, daughters, Gale Lynn Christian and Carla Denise Cooper.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories, daughters, Debra Christian of Bermuda and Sheila Christian Davis of Florida; son, Dwayne “Bo” Neal of New Jersey; brother-in-law, Frederick Aubrey of New Jersey; son-in-law, Charles Cooper of New Jersey; grandchildren, Crystal Showers of Bermuda, Maxayn Smothers (Greg) of Georgia, Rosheena Davis of Florida, Ashley Cooper of New Jersey Michael Cooper of New Jersey, Roger Davis of Florida and Clarke Showers of Bermuda and a host of great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
