Obituary for Mildred K. Jabar

Mildred K. Jabar was born on December 28, 1928 in Belleville, New Jersey, the daughter of the late Bertha Edwards-Jabar and Bro. Yussif Eugene Abdul Jabar also known as Eugene Jackson. Mildred grew up in Newark, New Jersey where she attended the Newark Public School system. Later, she moved to Linden and lived there for over 45 years.

Mildred worked professionally as a Home Health Caregiver primarily with children in the Union and Essex County area.

“Gwama” or “Ma,” as she was affectionately called by her family also had a genuine love for people but she had a special love for children. She adored and loved all her grandchildren and great-grandchildren unconditionally.

Gwama had many friends. She developed many friendships with her good old-fashioned Macaroni and Cheese, and her all time favorite baked Ziti dish. We will definitely miss that!
Mildred never had a sad or bad day as it seemed because she was always full of laughter and jokes. She was quite the comedian of the family. She loved reading and crossword puzzles and had enough puzzles to fill a library!

She was predeceased by her son, Ronald Jabar who has received his calling a few years ago.
Mildred is survived by her three children: Cynthia Jabar, Brenda Jabar and Charles Jabar; eight grandchildren: Kyle Abdul Jabar, Lance Abdul Jabar, Kalilah Nadira Jabar, Fanta Chanelle Jabar, Markeith Lavelle Jabar, Yussif Jabar, Eddie Junior Grayson and Eugene Yussif Jabar all from South Carolina; sixteen great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; special nephew, Barnard Mason, Jr.; along with a host of other family members and friends; a special thanks to Trinitas Hospital family, Sedna and Nicole from Bayada Home Health Care, The Holy Redeemer Crew and Jeff Bahar for keeping her smiling.
