Obituary for Doncella Gloria "Donna" Thomas

Doncella Gloria Thomas, was affectionately called “Donna,” was born on October 2, 1959 in Harlem, New York to Margaret Thomas (Vaughn). At an early age, she lived with her grandmother, the late Sadie Vaughn in Roselle, New Jersey. Upon her grandmother’s passing, Donna lived with her adopted mother, the late Amy Williams-Clark in Cranford, New Jersey. She was educated in the Cranford Public School system where she graduated from high school in 1977. Donna continued her education at Union County College where she attained an Associate’s Degree.

She was a faithful and devoted member of Deliverance Evangelistic Center in Newark, New Jersey under the tutelage of the late Apostle Arturo Skinner and Apostle Ralph Nichol. Her life was mainly involved in servicing the church. Donna loved to cook as a result she took part of the kitchen department for several years. She was also a bible schoolteacher and played the violin in the orchestra. She loved God, her family and church and was always willing to serve whenever there was a need. Donna was a member of New Life Worship Ministries under the leadership of Pastor Nathaniel Bullock, Jr. before she relocated to Florida. She became a member of Deeper Revelation International Miniseries under the leadership of Chief Apostle D. Dewayne Rudd, Sr.

Donna worked at a few temporary employment agencies until she relocated to Florida in 2006 where she was employed as an Administrative Assistant at VA Medical Center for the Department of Veterans Affairs in Gainesville from 2008 - 2018. In addition, she established her own catering business, “Double Portion Products, LLC” in Florida making her famous sweet potato pies, potato salad and other soul food entrees (2014). Previously, Donna was employed as an Administrative Assistant at Oracle Business Center in Woodbridge, New Jersey for several years.

Donna was a praying woman even on her bed of affliction; she was still praying for family and friends. She was a hard worker who strived to accomplish her many goals. She always had a listening ear and was always quick to give an encouraging word. She always said, “Did you pray about that situation or what did God have to say about that situation?” Dealing with her sickness, she would spend quiet time talking to God. She had such a great relationship and her faith was anchored with the Lord.

On Friday, March 9, 2018, Doncella Gloria Thomas passed away at home at the age of fifty-eight.

Donna leaves to cherish her memory, one son, Brian D. Thomas (Colleen) of Linden, New Jersey; one sister, Thelma Wade-Thomas of Georgia; one brother, Kelly Thomas of New York; three grandchildren: David Christian, Melissa Christian and Brianna Thomas; 2 great-grandchildren; a close friend, Andrew Dupree; nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of dear relatives and friends.
