Obituary for Darnell Lawrence Candia

Darnell Lawrence Candia was born on December 20, 1970 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, son of Doloris Ann Candia and Richard “Sonny” Beeks. Darnell was a lifelong Linden resident. He was educated in the Linden Public School system, and earned his high school diploma from Linden High School in 1990. Darnell grew up participating in a variety of sports and loved keeping stats and records of the sport teams he followed.

Darnell worked for Union Hospital in Union, New Jersey for 12 years as a Dietary Aide. After leaving Union Hospital, Darnell worked at a couple of smaller jobs in the early 2000’s until he was forced to leave the workforce due to becoming permanently disabled.

Darnell was a huge sports fan and loved following all types of sports, from the high school level to the professional ranks. He fittingly earned the nickname “Dallas” from friends because of his unwavering loyalty to his favorite football team the Dallas Cowboys. Darnell was an avid reader of novels and loved the challenge of putting jigsaw puzzles together and timing himself to see how fast he could complete word search puzzles. Darnell loved spending time with his girlfriend Angela and bonding with his family and friends at the local tavern Mike’s in Linden, New Jersey. He loved posting positive messages on social media to encourage as many people as possible.
On Saturday morning July 15, 2017, Darnell Lawrence Candia quietly transitioned from this world. Darnell’s quiet and gentle spirit will be missed by all.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Doloris Ann Candia and Richard “Sonny” Beeks.
His memories are cherished by his three brothers: Deon L. Candia (Michelle), Jerry L. Candia and Devon J. Candia; sister, Alfreda A. Brooks (Keir) of Linden, New Jersey; god brothers: Carrington Harrell and Saboor Harrell; nephews: Travis Terrell Allen-Candia, Keir “KJ” Brooks Jr., Keon Nasir Candia and Xzavieon Cincere Brooks; nieces: Keilah Terrisse Brooks, Kennedy Cayanne Candia and Alexus Nicole Candia; great-nieces: Miracle White, Kilay S.
