Obituary for Bennie Mack Williams

Bennie Mack Williams was born on September 12, 1950 in Warrenton, North Carolina, son of the late Charlie Issac and Mattie Bell Williams. He attended Stoney Lawn Elementary School and Hawkins High School before moving to Newark, New Jersey in 1970.

He was employed as a Truck Driver for the Newark Department of Sanitation in 1997, retiring in 2015. Bennie loved his job and was well respected by his fellow co-workers in Sanitation.

Previously, he worked as a Welder for a private company and later as a Truck Driver for AFI.

He was a devout Baptist. He and his family would attend church where they would go for bible study to learn the Word.

Bennie was a family man who was known throughout the community in Newark as being a social butterfly. He would often spend his weekends helping family, friends and neighbors with various odd jobs such as moving and cleaning. Bennie had a green thumb; he loved landscaping and worked eight years as a Groundskeeper for his church. He also enjoyed planting flowers and gardening work at his home. One of his favorite sayings was, “I am too blessed to be stressed.”

He was predeceased by his two brothers: Charlie Williams, Jr. and Bobby Jewel Williams.

Bennie Mack Williams leaves to cherish precious memories, his wife, Sherri Williams; three sons: Jimmy France of GA, Michael Yarbrough and Marques Williams of Newark, NJ; one daughter, Megan Williams of Guttenberg, NJ; four sisters: Emma Williams of Warrenton, NC, Mary Ada Kearney (Bobby), Dorothy Townes and Mattie Marie Williams all of Newark, NJ; three brothers: Calvin Williams (Roxanne), Kenneth Williams both of Augusta, GA and Michael Williams (Ethel) of Warrenton, NC; two aunts: Pearl Alston and Catherine Williams of Warrenton, NC; and a host of nieces, nephews, dear relatives and friends.
